I'm trying to use zap2xml to pull data from tvguide. On the file tab within EPG Collector it will list the channels at the bottom when I click load files, but when I try to run collect epg data I consistently get an exiting code 5. Is this something that is not supported? I did just take my. Yes, I know this is crazy, but I've spent way too much time trying to find a solution to give up now and go with schedules direct Obviously it would be nicer if I could cut out the middle program - hopefully it is something simple.
Is that the case no matter what new EPG I use?
You are using the original base version 4. There have been a number of fixpacks since then so you should install the latest one from the Files section on here and try again.
I'm sorry about the old version - I used the download button on the main page and thought that would be the most current. After installing the fixpack, I am still getting the same error while using the same file I uploaded earlier. Try the attached version. You may have to map it manually in WMC. Give it a try and see what happens. I already wanted to be able to manually map the channels as I wanted to slowly test a few more things within WMC.
The above attachement worked great. Thank you for the personalized attention - I can't imagine many others are doing the exact same thing as me, but you took the time to fix my issue. Ok, one more post. After a successful run of the program, the next time I tried to retreive more data I got a new error.
I then tried to just pull in OTA EPG using the same paramaters that I had successfully done before trying to use zap2xml and still recieved the same error.Effects of playing mobile legends to students
I'm fine with being a 'lost cause' and going with schedules direct, I was just really hoping that I could get a free version to work. Attach the zap2 file again. It's failing when adding thumbnail references to the MXF import file. What do the contents of those 2 directories look like? If you have any jpg files present without valid GUID filenames it will fail. That was it. At some point I clicked 'Name images from programme title' - which I thought would be easier for me to find if I ever needed to, not realizing this was causing the issue with it not completing properly.
Since I have it working again, I'll try and resist the urge to continue to make changes to it. Thanks again for the assistance. I think I must have put that option in for someone who was importing to another media player.
I can confirm that this is also working for me. Thanks for your hard work. I had been planning to purchase a subscription for SchedulesDirect and use EPG, but this is clearly the better option for those who want a WMC channel guide at no cost.
After using this setup for a few days I figured out how to set up Task Scheduler to run zap2xml and then immediately start EPG Collector once the first task finished.
I have found a quirk on my end with shows that are part of a series not set to record properly, but I believe I figured that out today. That way, I can have the 3 prime tuners, going to cable, a dual tuner going to the antenna for ota, and the second tuner of the dual tuner, could be set to cable or a second antenna for ota from a different city, should I choose to…. I have 2 hdhomerun boxes, a prime, and a early dual tuner and my Thanks for adding the older hdhomerun boxes to the dvr tuner capability list.
I setup originally for the prime, I later acquired a early dual tuner, with 2 coax inputs. The dual tuner is connected for now to a antenna, while the prime is connected to cable. So, I request to be able to setup epg by box, and by tuner for those boxes that have multiple inputs to the tuners like the hdhomerun dual.
Please add this feature. Mix OTA with Cable tuners…. This is not the year Yet, in order for me to use the DVR service in both locations, I must delete the Canada tuner, install the Tokyo tuner, delete the Tokyo tuner and reinstall the Canada tuner.
I am well aware that I can select my own provider and submit my own xmltv file. I have tried several paid services and have concluded that PMS and the DVR mishandles tvg-id, groups and categories enough times that this is not a viable solution.
Seems like a simple fix to me. We can have multiple tuners. Please allow for multiple epg providers. After all, the DVR feature is absolutely useless without a proper epg.Concat 2 arrays without duplicates
Schedules Direct needs to be an Agent integrated into Plex for those of us who are paying for it. Multiple guide sources for multiple tuners would be much appreciated.
I can receive broadcasts from 3 DMAs and cable as well, so yes, please. Can I add more than one DVR tuner? Multiple tuners can be added from within the Plex Web app, provided you are using version 2. You could setup a script on one server to move recordings to the main server to have one source for watching recorded content if needed.
Plus zap2xml properly handles multiple channels with the same channel ex: With direct support for tvheadend it would be easy to get the aggregate EPG, that would shift the burden away from the Plex developers from supporting a wide range of EPGs and complex configurations. It should be relatively easy to bring in some of the code from tvhProxy or one of the other existing libraries.

Note that I have never used these, so they may not work, I have no clue what they dump for logging, they may not even be in Windows 7 still, etc. Also keep in mind that stations are only required to transmit 12 hours of guide data, and many don't even transmit that even though they are supposed to. Hopefully they are helpful - good luck! Thanks for your replies guys.
I posted the question to Microsoft, and got this answer: Thanks for contacting us. Unfortunately, it is not designed to receive guide updates via OTA. EPG setup and updates require an internet connection.
You may receive a general "Feedback Item Updated" notification as well, if any other changes were made by Microsoft.
Thank you for using Microsoft Connect!
Regards, the Microsoft Connect Team. Is this one of those times you can say "I hate to say I told you so, but I told you so". I actually got to the bottom of this. I'd push on with EPG Collector.
It's a lifesaver in countries with no EPG. I gather EPG Collector can import straight into media center now, but I'd try breaking the problem down into two separate tasks. Someday I'll have to the time try it. This website is not affiliated with Microsoft.OTA TV is one of the most powerful cord cutting tools there is — and it's also one of the most under-utilized. Part of the confusion stems from the acronym itself.
OTA EPG grabber
We refer to OTA a lot here on Cordcutting. We'll give a brief history lesson and explain how OTA came to be, how it works, and how you can use it to watch free TV without cable. Then we'll give you a quick crash course in choosing your over-the-air TV antenna and using it to its fullest potential. Let's do this! It also includes some of the biggest channels you remember from cable, which makes free over-the-air TV one of the best tools you can have as a cord cutter.
In each case, OTA just reminds us that we're talking about over-the-air channels. But what are over-the-air channels? You've probably guessed that they are channels that broadcast over the air duh.
But how and why do they do that? The how is that local channels have their own broadcast towers.Microsoft kinect 3d camera
If you've ever driven by your local CBS or NBC station's headquarters, you probably saw something that looked like one of these:. Those are broadcast towers, and your distance from your local station's broadcast tower along with any obstacles between you and it will determine how easy or difficult it is for you to pick up that station with your over-the-air TV antenna. Broadcast towers tend to be staples of channels with local programming.
To understand why that is, we need to go back to the earliest days of TV. Over-the-air TV channels date back to the original TV networks. Thanks to the demands of rural customers and the rise of multichannel programming, cable eventually became our main way of watching TV content.
OTA TV never went away. And, eventually, many of us began to rediscover it. If you use a modern antenna and modern TV, you'll get crisp HD picture over the air. And modern technology makes it possible to convert OTA TV into streaming video, and even to record it onto hard drives and replay it at will, just as you can with a cable DVR.
But they're not the only things that you can watch. In a moment, we'll show you how to get it. But first, you may want to ask: which channels can you watch for free over the air? Which networks are broadcast networks, and which ones are network channels, available only on cable?
Which channels you can watch for free over the air will vary a bit depending on your region, but there are a few basics you can probably expect. Some of the channels you may be able to watch for free over the air include:.
There are plenty of other over-the-air networks — too many, in fact, to list here. The largest ones all of which made the list above are available in many, many areas, but there are also plenty of small-time OTA channels that serve only certain regions. You never know what else you might find when you scan for channels with your new antenna!Tvheadend supports a variety of different EPG grabbing mechanisms.
These fall into 3 broad categories, within which there are a variety of specific grabber implementations. This is often the easiest way to get up and running and does provide timely updates should scheduling change. External : These provide the option to run grabber scripts externally and to send data into Tvheadend via Unix domain sockets.
